Common questions
What's the difference between Nations Indexes and VIX?
VIX is calculated using a wide basket of options at many different strikes, which means it reflects skew as well as implied volatility. Nations VolDex® uses only at-the-money options, giving you a cleaner, purer read on what the market expects for near-term realized volatility. Additionally, Nations Indexes covers 12 asset classes — not just the S&P 500.
How often are the indexes updated?
Pro subscribers receive indexes updated throughout the trading day, powered by SpiderRock Data and Analytics' real-time options data infrastructure. Free subscribers receive a weekly snapshot every Friday.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription at any time?
Yes. You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Your subscription continues until the end of the billing period, after which you revert to the free newsletter plan.
Do you offer data licensing for financial products?
Yes. Nations Indexes are available for licensing in ETFs, structured products, and third-party platforms. Contact our institutional sales team to discuss terms.
How far back does the historical data go?
Pro subscribers have access to historical data back to 2018. Institutional subscribers can access data back to 2009 for most indexes, with custom lookbacks available.
